CertificationHWPC is certified by the Society for Protective Coatings ("SSPC") under the Painting Contractors Certification Program. The SSPC is a national organization which tests and certifies surface preparation and painting contractors through an annual qualification audit which can aid customers in selecting a contractor that is most suitable for a particular application.
HWPC holds both SSPC-QP1 & SSPC-QP2 certification. SSPC's Painting Contractor Certification Program is a national pre-qualification service developed by SSPC for facility owners and others who hire industrial painting contractors. The program evaluates painting contractors in two categories: SSPC-QP 1, "Standard Procedure for Evaluating Qualifications of Painting Contractors: Field Application to Complex Structures," and SSPC-QP 2, "Standard Procedure for Evaluating the Qualifications of Painting Contractors to Remove Hazardous Paint." These standards were developed through the SSPC consensus process. To be certified by SSPC, industrial contractors have to demonstrate competence in several key areas. For certification to SSPC-QP 1, contractors have to demonstrate competence in four areas: Safety, Quality Control, Technical Capabilities, and Management. For certification to SSPC-QP 2, contractors have to demonstrate competence in four additional areas: Management of Hazardous Paint Removal Projects, Technical Capabilities Related to Hazardous Paint Removal, Personnel Qualifications and Training, and Safety and Environmental Compliance Programs. An independent auditor evaluates contracting firms through a series of submittals to SSPC about their operations and an impartial, on-site audit of their operations. |
