U.S. Silica - Maintenance & Restoration
For U.S. Silica, we provide maintenance painting and industrial services on an annual basis and implemented an annual program of silo interiors reconditioning, to safeguard against product contamination.
Silo interior restoration has become a major industry maintenance issue over recent years. As concrete silos age, they tend to crack and spall, creating fall-off. On this project, we abrasive blasted the interiors and spalled areas of empty silos, and filled, patched and applied a plural component to crack before installing an abrasion resistant coating. This system created a glass-like monolithic barrier that encapsulated the silo walls and eliminated all problems.
To better protect the silos and seal them from water penetration, we prepared the exterior sidewall and roofs, and coated them with elsatomeric coatings.
